The Naval Innovation Center was designed by Applied Minds to serve as a premier military education and experimentation facility, fulfilling the vision of the Honorable Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro. The center is positioned at the intersection of military innovation, defense industrial collaboration, and technology sector advancements, providing cutting-edge resources for Navy and Marine Corps development commands.

I worked closely with an interdisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and designers to develop a “user-centered” design approach to the floorplans and building design that balanced functionality, security, and innovation while aligning with military protocols using Revit. I focused on designing and optimizing the layout of each floor to determine the most efficient and user-friendly layout for all rooms, amenities, and other key areas within the building with the required square footage of each. Our team delivered a design that fosters collaboration between the military, academia, and the tech sector, while providing a seamless user experience for warfighting development commands. The center is now a model for innovation in military education and experimentation, offering resources to both defense industry partners and military personnel.
